Avian residency under your panels may seem harmless enough, but there are hidden risks many overlook.

*Disease. 

Birds not only carry many diseases, but the waste generates that ends up in your guttering is a breeding ground for viruses. As rain water runs through and out onto your paths and lawns, it brings the bacteria with it.

It's not just the excrement, there is also eggs, dead birds, lice . This has a negative impact on the health of both your family and your home.

*Fire risk.

Resident birds build nests under your array. These nests are made mainly of organic materials such as sticks, twigs and grasses. 

These not only add an available fuel source but are in a perfect arrangement for fire to have the greatest chance of occurring. They also limit the airflow under your panel array which prevents the underside remaining cooler. Now you have the perfect environment for fire. Heat, fuel and oxygen. 

Then there is the potential for birds to chew or damage your wiring, exposed, bare wires increase the risk of an electrical fire and electrocution. 

Decreased Efficieny

Nesting birds will sit out on your panels during the day, leaving artwork on your panel surfaces. The acidity can have a negative effect on the coating of your panels, resulting in a decrease in energy production.
